Thank you for visiting this website and welcome to 'The Yorkshire Vets'

2017 YVLGA Captain - Gill Travis (Crosland Heath Golf Club)

Hello ladies,

Now that the season has started, I thought I’d update you all with what’s been going on………& what there is to look forward to!

On the competition side, we have held the Championship @ Crosland Heath GC & the 2 Spring Meetings at Ripon GC & York GC. Congratulations to Karen Jobling our new YVLGA Champion & all the other winners. The full results are elsewhere on the website. Although the weather was variable at all 3 venues we received a very warm welcome & lots of help from all 3 Clubs. Many thanks to the Penny Holroyd, the committee & club members who helped on each day.

The draw for the competitions for the rest of the year have now been completed & where oversubscribed ballots done. Competition start sheets have been posted on the website & sent to all Club Reps. Yet again, we have some undersubscribed competitions so if you are interested in playing in the Foursomes
@ Crosland Heath GC Huddersfield (Aug 14th), or the Team Event @ Forest Park GC (York) (Sept 4th), then please contact Penny Holroyd ASAP.

FYI at our meeting last week, the Committee decided they needed more information on why some competitions are not fully supported before next year’s competitions & venues are finalised. Consequently, a SURVEY sheet will be available at the rest of the competitions this year & also on the ‘NEWS’ section of the website for all members to fill in to try& help us with this problem. Please complete a survey form & hand it in to the competition desk or download it
from the NEWS website page & send it to: yvlga@hotmail.com

On the team front, trials were held on a lovely day @ Crosland Heath GC in April, to which the 20 lowest hadicappers were invited (<5.9 handicap).
The Scratch team squad have also played 2 'friendly' matches; beating the Yorkshire Mid-Ams 1st team @ Crosland Heath GC but losing to the Yorkshire
2nd team (juniors) @ Sickleholme GC. Both matches were very competetive & exciting with full results & photos elsewhere on the website. Honours even!

This year the Richardson Trophy Scratch Team have 2 ‘home’ matches @ Crosland Heath GC v Northumberland & Durham, & 3 ‘away’ matches; v Lancashire @ Royal Lytham & St Annes GC, v Cumbria @ Appleby GC & finally v Cheshire @ Bromborough GC. Dates are on the website. Your support at any/all of these matches would be welcome & very much
appreciated by the players & myself. The team have already played their 1st match v Northumberland & got off to a great start with a 6&1 victory but now have our old foe, the red roses of Lancashire to play! The results will be on the website after each match, so do check it out regularly!

We also have the announcement of the Northern Team to look forward to, which will hopefully include Yorkshire players again this year. The Northern Counties team will play at the Jamboree to be held at Frilford Heath GC (South), August 8th -10th . Fingers crossed!

I am also looking forward to the rest of the competitions this year starting with our visit to Crow Nest Park GC next week, one of my favorite courses in Yorkshire! I’m hoping to meet up with as many members as possible, renew old friendships & form new ones….so look out for me!

Please come along & share the enjoyment & friendship that the Yorkshire Vets has to offer.
