OCTOBER 2019

Dear Club Representatives

Thank you for being the YVLGA representative for your Club. I know you will encourage your members to look at the opportunities available in the new season & enter as many as possible. We are aware that some members experience frustration when their entries are unsuccessful but we would ask you to manage Club submissions & let the Competition Secretary know who should be prioritised, where appropriate. Briefly, the role of the club representative is:

..... To liaise with your club's YVLGA members & the YVLGA committee in case of queries & problems & to pass on information from the YVLGA to our members
..... To collect annual membership fees & pay by 31st December prior to the playing year. Please note that new members can now join as soon as they reach the age of 50 during the playing year if they wish to play in competitions (see below)
..... Check your list of members for playing & non-playing so YVLGA can pay to the Northern Veterans Association, the annual capita fee for playing members
..... Send to the Competition Secretary your members' entries to competitions by the deadline date printed on the posters which is now 1st March for ALL competitions
..... Make your members aware of the benefits of joining the YVLGA

After the AGM, you will be sent a list of your 2019 members for updating & returning to me, with your payment.  Many clubs still have some LIFE members & no subscriptions are payable for them. However, we are keen that this list is kept current so any lady who has not played in YVLGA competitions in the last 5 years should now have NP against their name. If circumstances change, they can easily be re-instated. Please also delete or amend the list as necessary so that it is up to date.

Subscriptions for Annual members remains at £5 per year. All subscriptions & new member applications must be received by 1st January prior to the playing year. Any additional annual memberships for new members reaching 50 years of age & attaining 35 handicap or less after January 1st must be paid prior to playing in any YVLGA match or competition & before 30th September.

Cheques should be made payable to Y.V.L.G.A. & sent to Joyce Slater (address available on the downloadable application form). If you are making an electronic payment to the YVLGA Bank Account please read the info at the bottom of this letter.

The year starts with the Spring Meeting & is a great taster for the season. The diary for the year is available at your club or you can download it from the website (Look on the Competition Dates Page).

If you have not received your mailing or have queries please do not hesitate to contact me on 07951 919314.

Thank you once again for acting as your Club Representative - your assistance is much appreciated.

I wish you all a successful golfing year in 2020.

Joyce Slater
Membership Registrar

   2020 Non Qualifying Competition Results Information

Recording of Non-Qualifying Scores from England Golf (Download here)
From January 1st 2017 England Golf requires players to return all scores in competetive golf in Non-Qualifying Competitions away from the player's home club.
This applies to all Singles, Am-Am and 4BBB competitions.
Each Club should have put a process in place for the recording of this information.
It is the player's responsibility to do this and the information to be recorded as follows:
* Date of competition
* Format (inc H'cap Allowance)
*Venue/Course
*Tees Used
*SSS of course
*Names of playing partners ( if a team/pairs event)
*Score returned
Failure to do this could result in loss, or suspension, of handicap under clause 24.1
